JUSTUS KOTZE INTERVIEW

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Congratulations on winning the Maloof Money Cup Am Street. Did you have any expectations before Maloof?
I had no expectations. I just went there to represent Revolution, to chill and skate, and I guess I just had a good day that day. It was cool.

What are you going to do with the money?
I came back from Maloof early in the morning, went straight to Cape Tech and paid off my student loan. Everyone says “You’re so responsible” (laughs). It would have taken me like 5 years to pay it off, and I paid the whole thing off in one shot.

What was your overall impression of the Maloof Money Cup?
I was blown away. I mean, just being amongst all those dudes was enough for me. Like it could have been some shitty competition and I would have still enjoyed it. But honestly, I had the best time. It was like being at an American X Games or something. It was really proper, and fucking cool.

What were some of the highlights of your weekend at Maloof, besides winning the Am Street?
Seeing Geoff Rowley skate, and skating that awesome park. The marble was amazing. I’ve never skated marble like that so it was really awesome. Perfect run-ups, perfect landings. It was pretty perfect.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?
For the rest of the year I’m basically just skating and having fun. I’m trying to get a job too. But I just want to keep on skating and pushing myself a bit further.

MOSES ADAMS INTERVIEW

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Well done on placing 17th in the Maloof Money Cup Pro Street. Did you have any expectations of how you would place before Maloof?
I just skated and saw what happened hey. In the first round, I came 5th and then in the finals I came 17th, so I don’t know how that happened, but I guess I just messed up.

How did you find the contest, skating against all the pro’s? Were you nervous, or did you just do your thing?
I was nervous, but it was just a really really big experience for me getting to skate with all the pro’s because they’re on another level, and they were impressed by my skating.

What were some of the highlights of your weekend, besides the Pro Street competition?
Well I stayed with Andrew for one night, and staying with my friends in the campsite. They were all partying and stuff. Apparently there was this one guy who got so drunk that he knocked himself out with a bottle.

What was your overall impression of the Maloof Money Cup?
I think that the way the whole event was run, the marble, the whole park, was really cool. I mean, where can you find a park like that here? It was unbelievable.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?
Well it would be nice to go on tour, and maybe go overseas again.
