Botswana Trip

I recently went on a trip to Botswana with Will Twala, Brad Illingworth and Matt Dowdle to do some demos for XASA and Orange mobile network

To me the trip was more about taking skateboarding to new places and to introduce skateboarding to those who hasn’t really seen it, which turned out really well I think .Allot of skateboards and about 3 BMX bikes were given away to some of the kids.

Tuesday Morning : We left Johannesburg early in the morning on the 16th of Dec at about 5 and we only got there at about 7 at night. We got to the hotel had a couple of drinks and just relaxed after the long drive.

Every morning for the whole week we had to wake up at 8 to go and skate demos at the Galo Mall on a 5ft mini ramp , a flat bar and a grind box. After the demos we went back to the hotel where Will and I took a walk to see if there was anything to skate. We found this empty pond at the hotel we stayed at and the hotel owners allowed us to skate it so we did. We skated the empty pond almost everyday after our demos it was so much fun.

We met up with the dudes from the BW skate shop halfway trough the week and also skated a lot with them from there.

On the Sunday Will and I decided to go skate street and get a photo or two. We went to the Galo Mall in Francistown where we found a Double set with a handrail. We started skating around… trying to warm up, so a lot of random people gathered around to watch us skate and they really enjoyed it, which was rad because when the security guards came and told us that skateboarding was not allowed, they sorted it out for us. The guards gave us a coupe of minutes to skate. Will got a flip down the double set and I got a boardslide across and down, Brad and Matt shot the Photos

Monday was our last day, we met up with the dudes from the BW shop, skated some more demos, went back to the hotel, skated the pond and had a couple of drinks with them afterwards…..Good Times.

Tuesday we drove back to Johannesburg.
